Md. Adil, Somya Jain, Sachin Vyas, Chetali Lala and Naina Jindal for winning prizes in the national level artwork competition organized by BhavaniCDC in December 2008.
Of
Rohan Misra... Vishal Tiwari.... Neha Yadav  who won 50$ .
each for their artwork  in the The Brian Ayers Memorial Art Exhibition at North Carolina, U.S.A. Bhavani CDC is today seven years old.
Children who were in the early intervention programme were ready for academics this year.
To link academics to early intervention programme needed equipment.
The State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur was kind to set up the class rooms with the necessary infrastructure and leaning material. We set up the Maria Montessori System for mathematics in the center. Thanks to the sponsorship by Ramila and Rajeev Sridhar from Madras, we were able to set up the initial part of the Maria Montessori System.

Ms. Uma Shanker, the Director of the Centre for Montessori Training Chennai trained the staff of Bhavani CDC and helped us to set up the Montessori System.

.A programme was organized to appreciate the acting and reciting skills of the students at Bhavani CDC on the 9th of Setember 2008.
Ms. Alka Kala, the Additional Chief Secretary, Women Empowerment & Welfare, Govt of Rajasthan, Jaipur, was the chief guest.
Ms. Kala witnessed the Ikebana presentation by the senior students of BhavaniCDC which was followed by a performance of poetry recitation, drama and brain gym by all the students of the center.
While addressing the gathering Ms. Kala appreciated the students and praised them for the wonderful performance. She talked of the importance of realizing the potential of every child which has to be nurtured and encouraged. She was appreciative of the parents who encouraged their children to get academically qualified through the alternate method of education. Learning was planned as practical sessions ….
Dr. Sunitha Mishra, Principal of the physiotherapy College at Jaipur in a session with our students taught good posture while reading and writing.
Dr. Nikita Khandelawl, yoga specialist conducted a yoga camp to develop concentration and enhance memory skills
Field trips were part of the learning programme every month!
To mention a few….visit to Trident Hotel and The SBBJ bank to see and understand the actual working of a hotel and a bank. The students and teachers went for a trip to Sariska Tiger Sanctuary in December 2008.
The tiger eluded them but the sighting of other animals was a big treat!Highlight of the year.
Bhavani Child development center organised the Second National Art Work Competition.
 It was sponsored by The State Bank Of Bikaner and Jaipur ,head office, Jaipur.Total of 144 participants took part in the competition consisting of 110 junior category in the group of less than 15 years and  34 senior category in the group of seniors above the age of 15 years .The participations had come from Mumbai, Bangalure, Chennai, Kolkota, Chandigarh etc.
 Ms Hamsini Menon  General Manager of The State Bank Of  Bikaner and Jaipur inaugurated the display of artwork before they were adjudged at a  function held at Bhavani CDC premises,
In her address to the select audience, she emphasized the role played by commercial banks for the society, especially children. She was very impressed by the number of artwork entries and appreciated them as very artistic and done with a lot of enthusiasm.
She said that it was a pleasure to be at Bhavani CDC and the wonderful work the Center is doing. The painting competition for children with learning difficulties was extremely well organized and had attracted a very large number of entries. She wished that the participation would keep growing each year.The artwork was judged by Mr.Alok Chakraborty, artist from Shantiniketan, Kolkotta,
 Ms. Archana Surana, Director, Arch Acamedy of Design , Ms. Anjana Jain ,landscape artist
 on 12.12.08. According to Mr. Chakraborty the paintings were very imaginative and the colour scheme complimented the composition .He was highly appreciative of Bhavani CDC for organising such a wonderful all India art competition.
Ms. Surana ,commented on the wonderful effort by the participants and complimented the unexceptional colour and design concepts.
Ms Jain, said all the pictures were outstanding and expression and colour was according to their respective theme.

The judges found judgment very challenging and after much deliberation announced the prize winners consisting of

Bhavani CDC reopened after the summer vacation with some wonderful news.

Every month experts from various feilds are invited to talk to the students of Bhavani CDC
8.8.08 was  Physiotherapy Day when Dr. SunIta Sharma MPT (neuro) MIAP,   Principal and consultant physiotherapist, Jaipur Hospital College of physiotherapy, Shipra Path, Mansarover, Jaipur addressed the students and taught a few exercises to develop a good posture.

The programme was conducted by the senior students.
Mhd Adil welcomed the guest  while Neha Yadav proposed the vote of thanks.

From September 2006 to April 2007

September 9th 2006: Mrs. Vimala Venkatesan addressed 200 parents of the Gandhi Bhavan Campus Nursery School , in the University campus. The topic was ‘Development in a Preschool child” About hundred parents attended the lecture.

September 20th 2006. Bhavani CDC conducted a mathematics workshop ‘Sankhya Gyan’ for hundred teachers from several school of Jaipur at Gandhi Bhavan Campus Nursery School, in the University campus organized by The Dr. Sarala Grover Memorial Trust.
Sankhya Gyan’ developed by Bhavani CDC as a teaching-learning programme for approaching various mathematical concepts, demonstrates that mathematics can be interesting, challenging and easy to understand through games. Sankhya Gyan is an activity and play based learning of mathematical concepts for pre-primary and primary school levels.

November 4th & 5th 2006. Bhavani CDC organised a two-day programme
Maths & Movement.
On An innovative mathematical programme to enhance understanding and create a liking for mathematics. & A dance and movement programme to enrich self- expression with a focus on education and personality development.
Resource people:Ms. Usha Menon and Anuradha from Jodo Gyan, an organisation working on Realistic Mathematics Education projects based in Delh. Ms.Aditi Subramaniam, from Delhi, a Bharatnatyam dancer with a Masters in psychology and a Diploma in Learning Disabilities. The sessions were attended by teachers, parents and children, three hundred in all, learnt that mathematics could be liked and learnt with better understanding.
The music and movement opened up learning and understanding with dance to work creatively with individuals and enhance their self-expression with a focus on education and therapeutic practices.

March 1oth to 12, 2007. Mrs. Vimala Venkatesan conducted a two day workshop for the teachers of the JG. International school, Ahmadabad. The topics were Learner –Centered Psychological Principals to Enhance Learning Skills in children, Sankhya Gyan and Brain Gym.
Thirty five teachers attended the participatory workshop.


April 2nd to 6th 2007. Five specialist teachers from Sweden visited Bhavani CDC.
Their visit was To observe the work at the Center, Observe PEPAL , the assessment programme at the Center where the present level of performance of a child is assessed. Demonstrate some teaching methods in the areas of language development, mathematics, reading and spelling and nursery rhymes.
Conduct a workshop for teachers in mathematics, total physical mobility and reading skills

Bhavani Child Development Center at Jaipur providing intervention services to children with developmental delays and a learning programme for children with Learning Difficulties, organized a programme on 9.9 08.  

The programme was organized to appreciate the acting and reciting skills of the students at Bhavani CDC.

Ms. Alka Kala, the Additional Chief Secretary, Women Empowerment & Welfare ,Govt of  Rajasthan, Jaipur, was the chief guest.
Ms. Kala witnessed the Ikebana presentation by the senior students of Bhavani CDC which was followed by a performance of poetry recitation , drama and brain gym by all the students on the center.

She wished them the best in life and said that Bhavani CDC students would  be  successful in all their endeavors.

The first item was an Ikebana presentation by the senior students. Bhavna Prakash, studying for the vocational course of Early Childhood Care and Education did a power point presentation on Ikebana.
The other students displayed their arrangements and explained them to Ms. Kala.

Kshitiz khandelwal played a song on the cassio.

A poetry on rain and camel was recited by the junior students with action.
Bhavani Child Development Center (registered charity under Indian law) with the support of Jaipur Heritage International Literature Festival has been doing a project called Developing reading and writing skills for teachers to develop language skills. The programme works with local teachers from a cross-section of schools,The focus is to bring them together for intense two-day workshops centered on helping them lead children to retell folk stories from their places of origin. 

In the process, reading, reading comprehension and creative writing can be developed. This programme is done through folktales of India. While the original story was read by the participants, in the workshops they were asked to imagine a new ending to the original story which would enhance their writing skills.
The same method was adopted at Bhavani CDC for the senior and middle school students.
Taking their clue from two stories, the students created a new ending and made them into short plays which they enacted.

The tiny tots of Bhavani CDC sang a song and also demonstrated The Brain Gym. Brain gym helps to reactivate visual, auditory and kinesthetic intelligence, by concentrating on different dimensions of the brain like laterality, focus and centering.

She brought to light the importance of the alternate method of teaching and learning which would benefit children to be academically successful.

Ms. Sandhya Kasliwal.the Director, Bhavani CDC, spoke about the importance of child development and the academic programme at the branch set up for the tiny tots.

Ms. Vimala Venkatesan, the founder trustee spoke about the innovative method of teaching and assessing children. While she agreed that exams and assessments were important to all schools, at Bhavani CDC the method adopted was child friendly and children enjoyed finishing up projects and work sheets which did not put any extra stress on them.
Mhd. Adil a student of std VIII conducted the programme and Neha Yadav student std VIII proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme was attended by all the invitees and parents of BhavaniCDC.
